IPL 2021 auction – Will Arjun Tendulkar get debut in IPL 14: Arjun Tendulkar, son of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, made his Mumbai senior team debut on Friday in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Elite Group E encounter. The budding left-arm pacer was included in the playing XI for the state’s clash against Haryana which was being played at suburban BKC ground.

Unlike his father, who started off with a memorable ton, Arjun’s debut did not go according to plan. The 21-year-old remained not out on 0 while batting at number 11 and went on to concede 34 runs in his three overs. However, much to his joy, he managed to dismiss Haryana opener Chaitanya Bishnoi for just 4 runs.

Now, having played at least one match for the Mumbai senior team, Tendulkar has thus qualified for the IPL auctions next month. He was a late addition to the squad along with another pacer, Krutik Hanagavadi, by the Salil Ankola-led selection committee, after the BCCI allowed 22 players to be selected due to bio-secure norms.

IPL 2021 auction: Arjun Tendulkar has been training with Team India and Mumbai Indians

It is to be noted that Arjun has been a regular in Team India and Mumbai Indians’ net sessions which have given him exposure against the best in the country. His performances in Mumbai’s age-group cricket have also made him shoot through the ranks as he continues to improve his pace and skillset every day.

In his last competitive tournament for assessment, Arjun claimed a staggering 19 wickets in just 5 games for Mumbai Under-19 in the 2017-18 Cooch Behar Trophy to further strengthen his resume.

He represented a CCI XI at the Bradman Oval in Adelaide in January 2017 and scored 48 runs with the bat as an opening batsman. He also picked up four wickets with the ball in hand. He made it to the MCC squad to play against Namibia Under-19 in England in July 2017 where he destroyed the opposition by picking up four scalps to his name.

He was also a part of the India U-19 team which toured Sri Lanka in 2018 for two four-day matches.

IPL 2021 auction: Which IPL teams can rope Arjun Tendulkar?

With a mini-auction all set to be held prior to the 14th edition of the lucrative Indian Premier League, Arjun Tendulkar will be hoping to be roped in by one of the eight franchises.

The Chennai Super Kings might be interested in the speedster considering the fact that their senior players have reached the twilight of their careers and they need to revamp their squad.

Arjun might get a bid from Rajasthan Royals too, as he will be a good support for their ace pacer Jofra Archer. Lastly, the Royal Challengers Bangalore might be another destination for Tendulkar as Virat Kohli has already faced him in the nets.

According to reports, the auction for the 2021 edition of the IPL is set to take place on February 11.
