Injured Ishan Pandita announces leaving Blue Tigers’ Camp ahead of SAFF Championship 2023

Indian Football Team gears up for SAFF Championship 2023, boosted by Intercontinental Cup victory, but forward Ishan Pandita withdraws.

As Indian Football Team prepare for the next test – the SAFF Championship 2023, riding high on the Intercontinental Cup win confidence, forward Ishan Pandita announced his retreat from the team. The Blue tiger, as earlier mentioned by Igor Stimac got injured during practice and missed out the whole tournament. Sunil Chhetri and co is set to partcipate in thetournament from June 21st to July 4 with India vs Pakistan getting their campaign underway.

The 25-year-old is suspected of suffering a thigh ailment and was also spotted wearing a bandage before India’s opening encounter in the competition against Mongolia. He did not train with the rest of the team on Sunday, the day before India’s encounter against Lebanon. Instead, he strolled around the pitch with one of the team’s trainers, wearing a bandage.

India was automatically assigned to Group A prior to the draw, where they were joined by Pakistan, Kuwait, and Nepal. Lebanon will join the Maldives, Bangladesh, and Bhutan as the fourth team in Group B.

Kuwait and Nepal will play the first match of the SAFF Championship 2023 on June 21 in Bengaluru, followed by India and Pakistan later that day. On June 22, Lebanon takes on Bangladesh in the morning while the Maldives takes on Bhutan in the afternoon in Group B. The semi-finals, which will take place on July 1, will include the top two teams from each group, with the final taking place on July 4.
