Indonesia Open Badminton LIVE: After the Indonesian Masters, Badminton action will continue in the country as the Indonesian Open is all set to begin on 14th June Tuesday. The tournament, which is a BWF 1000 event, will feature world’s top badminton stars. The annual badminton tournament will be the eleventh tournament of the 2022 BWF World Tour. Top Indian shuttlers PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth, Saina Nehwal, HS Prannoy and Sai Praneeth will all be in action in the tournament  The finals will be played on Sunday, 19th June.

Men’s draw

Men’s Singles 

World No.9 Lakshya Sen leads the men’s draw from the Indian side as he has been seeded eighth in the tournament. Lakshya will face compatriot HS Prannoy in the first round. He is likely to face second seed Kento Momota or Srikanth Kidambi in the quarterfinals.

Lakshya Sen, Prannoy and Srikanth are placed in the same quarter. Srikanth begins his campaign against Chinese Taipei’s Wang Tzu-wei.

The other Indians in the men’s singles draw include Sai Praneeth, who will be up against Hans-Kristian Vittinghus in the first round. Meanwhile, Parupalli Kashyap, who was about to face Sameer Verma in the first round has withdrawn from the tournament. Sameer will now face Thomas Rouxel in the first round. The winner of this contest will either face sixth seed Lee Zii Jia or Sitthikom Thammasin in the second round.

Men’s Doubles

In men’s doubles India’s top doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty withdrew from the tournament at the last moment. They were seeded seventh in the tournament. They would have faced South Korea’s Choi Sol-gyu and Kim Won-ho in the first round.

Krishnaprasad Garaga and Vishnuvardhan Goud Panjala too opted not to participate in the tournament. They were about to face second seeded Indonesian pair Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan in the opening round.

Indian will also have the participation of Manu Attri-Suneeth Reddy. They will be in action against third seeded Japan pair Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi in the first round.

Meanwhile, MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila will face Japan’s Keiichiro Matsui and Yoshinori Takeuchi in the first round. Krishnaprasad Garaga and Vishnuvardhan Goud Panjala also find themselves in the same quarter and they will face second seed Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan in the opening round.

Women’s Singles

World No.7 PV Sindhu will feature in the tournament as the seventh seed. She will begin her campaign against China’s He Bingjiao in the first round. Sindhu finds herself in the same quarter that also has South Korea’s An Se-young, who is the third seed. They are likely to face in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, Saina Nehwal has withdrawn from the tournament as she intends to focus on the upcoming Malaysia Open.

Doubles draw

In women’s doubles, Ashwini Ponnappa and Sikki Reddy will face Indo-American duo of Srivedya Gurazada and Ishika Jaiswal in the opening round. If Ponnappa-Reddy pair win the first round, they will meet top seed Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan.

Meanwhile, Treesa Jolly and Gaytri Gopichand returns and they will be in action against France’s Margot Lambert and Anne Tran in the opening round. Ashwini Bhat and Shikha Gautam are the other Indian duo, who are in the same quarter and they will face China’s Zhang Shuxian and Zheng Yu in the first round.

Haritha Harinarayanan and Ashna Roy are the other Indian seed and they will face South Korea’s Jeong Na-eun and Kim Hye-jeong in the first round.

Mixed Doubles 

India’s mixed doubles pair Ishaan Bhatnagar and Tanisha Crasto will kickstart their campaign against Hong Kong’s Chang Tak Ching and Ng Wing Yung. They are the only Indian pair in the competition.
