Quarterfinals – PV Sindhu vs Ratchanok Intanon 

Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu crashed out of the ongoing Indonesia Masters 2022 after suffering a defeat to Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand in the quarter-finals of the women’s singles category at Jakarta on Friday.

Playing on court 1, Sindhu lost the match to her opponent by a margin of 21-12, 21-10. The Indian did not look at her best, as her Thai counterpart sealed the match and qualified for the semi-finals after winning two straight games convincingly. It took Intanon 33 minutes to eliminate Sindhu from the competition.

Quarterfinals – Lakshya Sen vs Chou Tien-chen 

  • Lakshya Sen lost to Chou Tien-chen 16-21, 21-12, 14-21

The game started off on an even note with both the players involved in a neck-to-neck battle. Tien-chen however managed to get two consecutive points on the trot and entered the first set interval with a 11-8 lead. From then on, the World No.4 dominated the set as he won it 21-16.

In the second set, Lakshya Sen made a good comeback and entered the break with a 11-5 lead. Tien-chen however was alive in the contest as he challenged Lakshya with an array of shots and tried to reduce the deficit. But Lakshya was undeterred with it as he continued his good show and in the end won the set with a comfortable scoreline of 21-12.

In the third set, Tien-chen came back strongly as he led the set right from the start. He entered the break with a 11-6 lead. Just when the Indian needed to play a perfect game, he commite many errors that helped Tien-chen take 15-9 lead. From then on it became impossible for the Indian to make a comeback as Chou Tien-chen won the set 21-14 and the game.
