India’s Asia Cup 2023 squad will likely include KL Rahul and Jasprit Bumrah. As per reports, The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will announce Asia Cup squad on August 21.
The Asia Cup 2023 will start on August 30 in Multan, and on September 2 India will play Pakistan in their opening game. At this point (on August 21), it is expected that the BCCI selectors will only choose the Asia Cup 2023 squad. Later, the World Cup 2023 team would be selected.

Sanju Samson’s chances are harmed by the seasoned wicketkeeper-bat KL Rahul’s projected return from injury. Kerala batter have a strong 55.71 ODI average in 13 games. Ishan Kishan, who has proven to be a dependable opener-keeper, will serve as the team’s backup option.
Along with Jasprit Bumrah, the tall bowler Prasidh Krishna, who last played for India against Zimbabwe in Harare on August 20, 2022, before being sidelined due to a stress fracture on the back, could make a comeback into the Asia Cup 2023 squad.
Prasidh Krishna ability to produce pace and bounce will give India’s bowling attack a new dimension. Before selecting the Asia Cup 2023 squad, it will be fantastic if the selectors can watch both Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishan bowl in the first T20I match against Ireland on August 18.
Relive the last time when India clashed with Ireland:
While all the other nations have already unveiled their teams for the competition, the BCCI is taking its time to evaluate the players’ fitness.
Despite Shreyas Iyer ongoing recovery from back surgery, KL Rahul is reportedly healthy and is also keeping wickets. Both have taken part in match simulations at Bangalore’s National Cricket Academy, and they will soon play a practice match.
The players’ level of fitness will also be assessed by the team and NCA’s physiotherapists after they return from the West Indies tour. This is why the team announcement was delayed.
