Apart from Harshal Patel, five other players are recovering from illness and injuries. Barring Ajinkya Rahane, who is not in white-ball plans, Ravindra Jadeja, Suryakumar Yadav and Deepak Chahar are all on the injury list. Prithvi Shaw is also recovering from typhoid and is doubtful for South Africa series.

“Look we don’t know what sort of fitness test is being conducted at his franchise. The team has certain guidelines when it comes to fitness and if he clears that, he will be selected. But if he fails that, he will have to wait until he does so,” a selection committee member told InsideSport last week.
