India head coach Igor Stimac in dire straits, AIFF slaps show-cause notice

Igor Stimac, the head coach of the Indian Football Team, is in serious bind after the AIFF issued a show-cause notice as a result of his comments in the media.

Indian Football Team head coach Igor Stimac landed at loggerheads with AIFF following his interview regarding the current football condition in India. The apex body of Indian Football, AIFF has issued a show-cause notice on the Blues boss ahead of Sunil Chhetri and Co’s Kings Cup. The development comes after the coach had given an interesting interview blasting at ISL clubs.  The frustrated Croat said he didn’t come to India to lick a**es.

Following a significant social media campaign and great efforts from AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey, the football squad was able to persuade the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to send them to the Asian Games. When Igor Stimac summoned up U-23 players for a camp, only 12 of the 28 players showed up. The camp had already been postponed once due to club refusals to release players.

East Bengal, Kerala Blasters, Mumbai City, Jamshedpur FC, and Odisha FC all did not send representatives. Punjab FC, too, did not send any players to the camp. Igor Stimac, enraged, blasted the clubs.

“I didn’t, pardon my language now, come to India to lick a**es. I came to India to help. If you want my help, I need to tell you the truth. ” said Igor in the interview.

The Indian football team coach now finds himself in dire straits following his comments. Displeased with them, AIFF has issued a notice for Igor STimac and he has been granted three day to formally apologize.

The football calendar in India has historically been a source of contention between the federation, clubs, and even players. If a shorter timeframe for the Indian Super League was an issue in the past, it will now make it more difficult for clubs to prepare for both the Indian Super League and AFC competitions.
