Indian Football Team captain Sunil Chhetri has requested to coach Igor Stimac to exempt him from travelling to the King’s Cup to be held in Thailand. Blue Tigers will compete in the tournament from September 7 to September 10. The Football Association of Thailand has yet to confirm the draw and host city.
” I would request the coach not to include me in the King’s Cup squad.” Sunil Chhetri said.

Sunil Chhetri was been selected head coach of the Indian men’s football team for the Asian Games in 2023. Sandesh Jhingan and Gurpreet Singh Sandhu will be joining him. The captain will also try to motivate his team to win the AFC Asian Cup 2023 and the FIFA Qualifiers.
