Blues Captain Sunil Chhetri requests to be exempted from King’s Cup

Sunil Chhetri, the captain of the Indian football team, has asked to be excused from the Kings Cup in Thailand because the dates are close to his wife's due date.

Indian Football Team captain Sunil Chhetri has requested to coach Igor Stimac to exempt him from travelling to the King’s Cup to be held in Thailand. Blue Tigers will compete in the tournament from September 7 to September 10. The Football Association of Thailand has yet to confirm the draw and host city.

” I would request the coach not to include me in the King’s Cup squad.” Sunil Chhetri said.

” I am really looking forward to being a father. I would like to stay back as the date is very close to the delivery date,” he added.
