Finally, Indian fans got to know their heroes who will carry the burden of millions of ‘ODI World Cup 2023 dreams’ on their shoulders. India World Cup 2023 Squad was revealed at a press conference on Tuesday at Earl’s Regency, Kandy, Congress Hall. Sanju Samson, Yuzvendra Chahal were again missing from India squad and KL Rahul marked his return in India squad.
India’s World Cup squad:
Rohit Sharma(C), Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Shreyas Iyer, Ravindra Jadeja, Ishan Kishan, SuryaKumar Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur.
Tilak Varma and Prasidh Krishna, the final two members of India’s 17-player roster in Asia Cup 2023, were not included in the team for the ODI World Cup 2023. Apart from them, Sanju Samson and Yuzvendra Chahal were not included in the squad.
To recreate the feats of 2011, when MS Dhoni-led team won the ODI World Cup on home soil, the remaining 15 members of the Asia Cup squad will lead India in 2023.
India World Cup 2023 Squad:
Both Washington Sundar and experienced off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin were ignored from the squad. Team management opted to improve their batting by having a solid option at No. 8.
The allrounders, Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur, are expected to keep their spots for the World Cup 2023 along with Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya.
The chief selector Ajit Agarkar has been in touch with his selection committee colleagues regarding the fitness of the recently recovered trio — Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul.
Despite the fact that Bumrah has traveled to India for paternity leave, neither he nor Iyer have displayed any signs of discomfort.
The medical staff at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru has also given K.L. Rahul the all-clear after he recovered from a groin strain he sustained prior to the Asia Cup.
The selection committee and team management are therefore unlikely to make any changes to the core for India World Cup 2023 Squad that had been chosen for the Asia Cup 2023.
