Ramesh Powar was re-appointed in place of WV Raman last year. He had an unceremonious exit following the T20 World Cup in 2018. Powar was in the eye of the storm after dropping Mithali Raj from Playing XI. Mithali shot a letter to the BCCI in response.
However, in his second term as the coach, Raj and Powar have gotten along well so far. However, a change in captaincy is imminent. His first task after the World Cup disappointment will be the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in July-August.
Powar is already holding special camps at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. He has already begun preparations for the CWG, interacting with the selectors. Senior members like MIthali Raj and Jhulan Goswami are unlikely to be picked for the CWG 2022.

“Yes, there was discussion and the team and the coaching department have been asked to strengthen the performance. Whatever possible facilities or tournaments are required will be given to them. For us (BCCI), both teams are equal. Yes, there was a bit of disappointment when they lost the South Africa game and had to leave the World Cup early but it is a game and winning and losing are part of the game,” a BCCI source told India Today.
