Indian Women’s teams have booked their place in the semifinal of the Asian Games. Smriti Mandhana-led side faced Malaysia in the quarter-final of the Asian Games. The match ended in a no result as rain washed away the second half of the match. India are the first team to book a place in the semis of the Continental Games. Who India will play as the opponent will be decided by Friday night.
Mandhana led the side in India’s first game in the Asian Games as Harmanpreet Kaur is serving a two-match suspension by ICC. Mandhana will yet again lead India in the semi-final match.
Speaking about today’s performance, India completely dominated with bat in hand as the likes of Mandhana, Shafali Varma, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Richa Ghosh played blazing cameos to post a daunting score of 173 for 2 in 15 overs. In reply, Malaysia’s batters could play only two balls as rain came pouring down.
In today’s Asian Games, Pakistan will take on Indonesia. Tomorrow, Sri Lanka will play Thailand, and Bangladesh will battle it out against Thailand.
