“Good news is that there has been no new positive case. Rohit, Deepak and a few more players have begun practice. The ones who tested positive will spend 7 days in isolation. Mayank will join the squad on Saturday,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.
Covid Outbreak in Indian Camp: Meanwhile the entire team is in isolation for now. All those who have tested positive have been moved to a different floor in the hotel.
The practice is allowed only for those players who were not close contacts to Covid-19 cases.

“For now the series will be played as per schedule. But if more positive cases come out today or tomorrow, we can push the start by a day or two. We will be flexible about that,” a BCCI official told InsideSport on Thursday morning.

Covid Outbreak in Indian Camp: The Indian team has been staying in the Hyatt Regency Hotel in the city since Monday. The team was to undergo three-day quarantine before the practice sessions kick off. But for now today’s practice session has been cancelled.
Mayank Agarwal Added to India Squad: The All-India Senior Selection Committee has added Mayank Agarwal to India’s ODI squad after seven members, including three players of Team India (Senior Men) tested positive for COVID-19 following three rounds of RT-PCR testing.
The members were asked to report in Ahmedabad on 31st January 2022 for the upcoming Paytm three-match ODI and T20I series against the West Indies.
Every member was also asked to undergo an RT-PCR test at home before embarking on their journey to Ahmedabad and the travel was undertaken only after testing negative.

- Axar Patel tested positive before starting his journey for Ahmedabad. Axar has been grounded and will not join the squad in Ahmedabad for now.
- Opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan and fast bowler Navdeep Saini’s (standby player) RT-PCR tests conducted on Monday (January 31st) have returned positive results.
- Fielding Coach T. Dilip and Security Liaison Officer B. Lokesh’s RT-PCR tests conducted on Monday (January 31st) have returned positive results.
- Batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad’s RT-PCR test conducted on Tuesday (February 1st) has returned a positive result. He had tested negative during the first round of testing on Monday.
- Batsman Shreyas Iyer and Sports Massage Therapist Rajeev Kumar’s RT-PCR tests conducted on Wednesday (February 2nd) have returned positive results. Both had tested negative in the first two rounds of testing.
The BCCI Medical team is handling the positive cases and they will remain in isolation till complete recovery is attained.

The key according to a BCCI official would be the result of RT-PCR tests that will be conducted today morning. If some more positive cases are reported in Indian camp, the 1ST ODI can be pushed to a later date.
“For now the series will be played as per schedule. But if more positive cases come out today or tomorrow, we can push the start by a day or two. We will be flexible about that”, informed the BCCI official to InsideSport.
Meanwhile, a Cricket West Indies (CWI) official has confirmed that there are no positive cases in the visiting camp.
