India vs Sri Lanka 1st ODI – Sri Lanka Cricket: There will be nothing called home advantage for Sri Lanka Cricket team as they are scheduled to take on India in the 1st ODI of the series. On one hand Indian cricket team led by Shikhar Dhawan is going out to prepare themselves for the series, Dasun Shanaka led Sri Lanka team in all probability will take the field without any net practice. Sri Lanka team is currently in quarantine and will only complete the mandatory period on 12th July and on 13th July is the 1st ODI.
The positive Covid-19 report of batting coach Grant Flower has further compounded Sri Lanka’s problems.

India vs Sri Lanka 1st ODI – Sri Lanka Cricket: According to the information available with InsideSport.co, the health authorities in Sri Lanka have already isolated and quarantined the players who had returned from England. As per the local protocols, they will have to complete mandatory 7 days quarantine before they are allowed to participate in the nets session.
“We can’t help the situation. These are the kind of times we are living in, team will have to follow all health protocols as directed by the authorities. Yes it is correct the players who will be selected from the squad who were in England is unlikely to get net session before 1st game against India. The good part is none of them have tested positive in the 1st test”, declared Pramodya Wickramasinghe, Selector of Sri Lanka Cricket.

It is worth noting that the entire squad after their arrival from England on 6th July was tested for Covid-19. All of the players have tested negative but Sri Lanka’s batting coach tested positive. At this stage the entire squad is quarantined in a hotel in Colombo and will have to complete 7 days quarantine.
- As per the local norms 14 days quarantine is necessary before being cleared to move freely
- As Sri Lanka team was in a BIO-BUBBLE authorities decided to reduce the quarantine period to 7
- First 3 days of Quarantine, they are completely locked in their rooms
- Next 4, they will be allowed to use hotel Gym & Pool
- The players can participate in any kind of outdoor activity only after completion of 7 days quarantine
- The Quarantine period for Sri Lankan team will end on 12th July

“They can only train in the hotel as it has facilities, which can be of some help helpful. Outdoor activity would only be possible after completion of quarantine” Mohan de Silva, secretary of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) told InsideSport.co
Another interesting part is, Sri Lankan selectors have not named the team yet for the series against India. When asked, if some different team can play the 1st match, SLC Secretary or selectors refused to reveal much.
“We will name the team soon, we are observing the situation and will decide by end of the day on Friday”, said De Silva.
