India vs South Africa: Kohli, Rahane enter quarantine – After taking an extended break, Test skipper Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane joined Team India’s quarantine in Mumbai on Tuesday.  Earlier, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Mohammed Siraj joined the three-day quarantine period on Sunday. Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane, both residents of Mumbai, opted to join a day later due to personal reasons. InsideSport has learnt that not all families are going with the players. PTI earlier reported that Virat Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma and daughter will be travelling with him on the same charter flight.

“Virat and Ajinkya joined today. It was not an issue as he was in home isolation. His family will be travelling is what I know as of now. But not all families are travelling due to Omicron concerns. It is also not a long tour with mini breaks in between like the England tour,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

1-day isolation for Team India in South Africa:

Meanwhile, Team India will be serving just a day in quarantine in South Africa up on their arrival on December 16. Virat Kohli & Co will be tested three times for Covid-19 and will be out of isolation following the result. India’s first Test begins on December 26 in Centurion.

“Team India will quarantine upon arrival and will be released following the results of the arrival COVID-19 tests that will take place when the team arrives at their hotel. As long as it takes for the arrival Covid-19 test results to come out. No longer than a day,” a CSA spokesperson told InsideSport on Tuesday.

Shreyas Iyer begins quarantine in Mumbai:

Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer joined the team’s quarantine in Mumbai on Sunday. Taking to his Instagram handle, India’s latest Test debutant and Mumbai’s prolific middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer shared a story from his Mumbai hotel room with the text: Back in quarantine/bubble

Rishabh Pant begins quarantine in Mumbai:

The regular wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant too shared a selfie from his hotel room as he enters Day 1 of the three-day quarantine in Mumbai. Rishabh Pant was rested from the home series against New Zealand and will return to keep the wickets on South Africa tour.

Earlier, the likes of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Shardul Thakur, and Ajinkya Rahane assembled in Mumbai yesterday and even took part in a light training session under the bowling coach Paras Mhambrey at the Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai.

However, what’s more, intriguing is that the leader of the pack – Virat Kohli hasn’t arrived yet at the team hotel in Mumbai. Unlike all South Africa-bound players who gathered on Sunday, Kohli was earlier expected to join the camp on Monday. But the Test skipper is yet to arrive at the hotel.
