India is the tournament’s second-highest-ranked team, after only Lebanon. The team has been assigned to Group B, which includes the Maldives, Bhutan, and Bangladesh. The top two teams from each group will proceed to the semi-finals after competing in round-robin matches.

The Blue Tigers are participating in the Hero Intercontinental Cup in June as part of their preparations for the AFC Asian Cup in Qatar in January 2024. Following that, they will concentrate on the SAFF Championship in order to improve their gameplay and build their roster for the forthcoming continental event.
