Ahead of IND vs WI series, Yashasvi Jaiswal supports Sunil Chhetri & co from Bengaluru stands

During a break from his intense training sessions at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, Yashasvi Jaiswal, the Mumbai cricketer, was observed watching the SAFF Championship 2023 match between the Indian football team and Kuwait at the Kanteerava Stadium on Tuesday.

India vs Kuwait: Ahead of the much awaited IND vs WI series, young Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal was spotted lending his support to Sunil Chhetri & Co in the ongoing SAFF Championship 2023. Taking a break from his intense training sessions at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), the southpaw supported the Blue Tigers at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru.

India was competing in the final game in the group stage of the tournament, having already emerged victorious against Pakistan and Nepal in their previous matches. The Blue Tigers have already secured the berth in the semifinal of the tournament.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, has been selected for the Indian Test squad that will face West Indies in the coming month. The destructive southpaw showcased his exceptional skills during the IPL 2023 campaign where he emerged as the fifth-highest run-scorer.

He was also included as one of the reserve players in India’s squad for the recently held World Test Championship (WTC) Final. The youngster took the place of Ruturaj Gaikwad who left the squad for his marriage. Taking a well-deserved break, the young cricketer was spotted in the stands, enjoying and supporting the national football team’s endeavor to bring glory to the nation.

The Indian football team, aiming to clinch their ninth SAFF Championship title, entered the tournament as the defending champions. They exhibited impressive defensive performances in their previous matches against Pakistan and Nepal, managing to keep clean sheets on both occasions. However, their encounter with Kuwait on Tuesday ended in a draw.

In the 47th minute of the game, skipper Sunil Chhetri displayed his exceptional skills by scoring a remarkable goal, brilliantly assisted by a corner from Anirudh Thapa. With India taking the lead, they seemed poised to secure a victory. Unfortunately, in the dying moments of the match, a stroke of misfortune struck as Anwar Ali inadvertently scored an own goal in the 92nd minute. This unexpected turn of events forced both teams to settle for a draw, sharing the spoils of the game.
