Notably, India and England are set to lock horns in a postponed Test match, which will be the fifth Test of a series that India currently leads 2-1. The men in blue have had to deal with a lot of troubles recently, with former skipper Virat Kohli and all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin previously testing positive for COVID-19.

While they have since recovered, Rahul Dravid’s team was dealt with another hammer blow, as skipper Rohit Sharma has also contracted the virus. Provided he does not recover before the match, vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah will don the leader’s hat.
In such a scenario, he will become the first pacer in 35 years to lead India in Test cricket, since Kapil Dev in 1987. When Bumrah was previously asked about his feelings about potentially leading India in whites, he had said “If given an opportunity, it would be an honour. I don’t think any player would say no. There’s no bigger feeling than that.”
“I don’t like to chase things because I don’t want to. See I am a person who believes that God has a plan and everything will find out its own way, so I don’t like to hamper the plan that is there. I try to never change anything,” the pacer further added.

Meanwhile, the news of Rohit Sharma returning a positive diagnosis has rung alarm bells in both the Indian camp and the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB). It has been confirmed that while the skipper remains in isolation, the entire Indian contingent will undergo further rounds of tests today.
“Yes the entire squad will be tested today and Monday morning. Rohit is currently isolated and is being monitored by the BCCI Medical team. He will also be re-tested today”, informed a top BCCI official to InsideSport.
