India Tour of South-Africa – CSA books complete hotel for Indian Cricket team
Indian Team Hotel SA – Irene Country Lodge: According to reports in local media, Irene Lodge will host the Indian cricket team once they arrive on 17th December. This is the same hotel where earlier Sri Lanka & South Africa team were hosted.
The Indians will be based at the hotel for the Boxing Day Test at SuperSport Park in Centurion. Virat Kohli’s team will stay put at the same hotel for the New Year’s Test at the Wanderers in Johannesburg before moving to Cape Town.
CSA’s strict instructions & guidelines for the hotel
- No outside guest allowed in the hotel
- The staff involved are already quarantining at the hotel
- Regular testing is being done for the staff
- Everything that comes on to the property is thoroughly checked to ensure that all the health and safety requirements are met
- The hotel has been zoned off into various sectors to ensure that there is no contamination.
- Covid-19 compliance officers are appointed at the hotel
Indian Team Hotel SA – Irene Country Lodge: The lodge has hosted two successful bio-bubbles at the hotel during the height of the pandemic on behalf of Cricket SA.
Last year in December and January both host South Africa and Sri Lankan teams stayed at the hotel. In April-May this year South Africa & Pakistan were hosted at the hotel.

India Tour of South-Africa – India vs South-Africa: Cricket South Africa (CSA) has already lost 4 T20 matches owing to the threat of Omicron. India team has agreed to tour but the local government is yet to give permission for the fans in stadiums.
That means CSA is set to lose even Ticket sales revenues for the series. CSA now has literally pleaded with the local government to allow fans but are yet to get any response.
Acting chief executive officer of Cricket South Africa Pholetsi Moseki says the governing body are still hopeful of welcoming some fans back in the upcoming series against India.
“The issue of fans is something that’s on our agenda and once we’re done with the meeting, we’ll make a call from there,” Moseki said this week.
“There are a few people we need to speak to before we can make an announcement but we hope we’ll be able to make an announcement by the end of the day.”
CSA is hoping that government will relent & at least allow vaccinated fans to the stadiums.
Indian test team is expected to arrive in South Africa on 17th Dec & will play the 1st test match at Super Sport Park.
