India Tour of Ireland – VVS Laxman India Coach? VVS Laxman is all set to take charge of the Indian team for the two-match T20 series against Ireland in June. As the two-match T20 series will be played on June 26 and 28, the red-ball squad will be busy playing a warm-up match against Leicestershire from June 24. As two different teams will be busy simultaneously, the BCCI has decided to send VVS Laxman as the Director for the T20 team Dravid will be in England after finishing the South Africa series at home.

“Yes it’s possible that two teams could travel and the team which goes to Ireland, possibility that VVS Laxman will be given the post of Director of the team instead of coaching and some officials are in touch with Laxman for the same” a source from BCCI insider told ANI.

After concluding the Ireland tour, VVS Laxman is likely to join the team in England ahead of the 1st Test from July 1 at Edgbaston, Birmingham. The white-ball team will play two warm-up games on July 3 and July 5.

While it was agreed that Rahul Dravid will leave for England with the squad for England on June 15, he now is expected to stay back till the South Africa series is over. Rohit Sharma & Co will leave on June 15 while Dravid will join the team after completing the South Africa series on June 19.

As for the team for Ireland, BCCI will announce the squad after the completion of the South Africa series. The likes of Rahul Tewatia, Rahul Tripathi and Sanju Samson are likely to be called up for the Ireland series.
