Cricket Ireland are preparing for a bumper summer with major series lined up including a two-match T20I series with India. As per the itinerary posted on their official website, Team India are set to play two T20Is in Malahide, on June 26 and June 28.

The tour is subject to license but should get underway with BCCI themselves eyeing a hectic schedule in the build-up to the T20 World Cup. The Ireland series will serve as a precursor to India’s England series, with Rohit Sharma and Co expected to feature in 5 ODIs and a Test in July.

“We are delighted to welcome back India Men’s team for the first time since 2018, as well as the number one-ranked ODI side – the Black Caps, who were last here in 2017,” Warren Deutrom, Chief Executive of Cricket Ireland, said. “Just as important, given we will shortly be heading to a T20 WC, are the two T20I series against South Africa and Afghanistan. Our thanks goes to Gloucestershire Cricket Club for agreeing to host the South African series.

“We decided to postpone both this year’s planned tour to Zimbabwe in April and the home Bangladesh series into 2023. Even with these changes, we’re still hosting a record amount of men’s cricket against some of the world’s top teams this year – with more exciting announcements to come around our women’s fixtures.”

India had previously toured Ireland for two T20Is back in 2018, which was again followed by a tour of England. The Men in Blue had comprehensively won both games that time, with now captain Rohit Sharma even scoring a stunning 97 in the second game.

Along with India, New Zealand, South Africa and Afghanistan are expected to tour Ireland over the coming months, in what has been dubbed as the Summer of Stars by the Irish cricket board. The top-quality action should help the hosts, who recently sealed qualification to the T20 World Cup in Australia.
