India Tour of England – Dravid, Pant, Iyer reach England: Team India management has decided against adding Mayank Agarwal to the main squad. The BCCI wanted to add Mayank as a KL Rahul replacement. But with Shubman Gill already present as an opener, the team management doesn’t see it as a requirement to add him to the main squad. Follow India vs England Live Updates on InsideSport.IN.
Meanwhile, the second batch comprising Coach Dravid, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer have reached London. The trio left for London on Monday morning from Bengaluru. They will team up with the rest of the team in the UK ahead of the warm-up match against Leicestershire starting June 24.
“Mayank will remain on standby. Given it’s a one-off Test, the team management doesn’t see the requirement of adding a player and then sending him home. But if there is an injury, he will be sent to England,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant have departed for the UK in the wee hours of Monday morning. The former shared a picture of him and Pant travelling together in the flight.
As per people close to the development, Mayank has already been asked to remain on standby and prepare for red-ball cricket on his own. Considering he was recently featured in Karnataka’s Ranji Trophy quarterfinals, he is still fresh.
“Mayank will continue to practice in Bangalore. Should the team need him as injury cover, he will be sent to England. For now, he is not travelling with the team. Had we played more than one Test, Mayank would have travelled with the squad,” the official added.
