India Tour of England: Question mark over Prithvi Shaw & SuryaKumar Yadav’s early travel to London after Covid-19 hits India tour of Sri Lanka- In what comes as a latest jolt to India senior team’s plan of injury replacements for upcoming Test series, Prithvi Shaw and SuryaKumar Yadav’s tour of England is in jeopardy after Krunal Pandya tested positive for COVID-19.

As per a latest BCCI release, Krunal Pandya has tested positive hours ahead of the second T20 between India and Sri Lanka. The entire contingent is undergoing RT-PCR tests to ascertain any further outbreak in the squad. It takes at least 24 hours to find out the result while rapid antigen test takes only 15-30 minutes for the results. The Medical Teams have identified eight members as close contacts. The names of these players were not revealed.

However, Parthiv Shaw & Surya Kumar Yadav are part of those 8 players and will now not leave for England anytime soon, as per insidesport.co

If the retest comes out to be positive, the players will have to stay in isolation for at least 7 days to 10 days as per authorities.

India Tour of England: Question mark over Prithvi Shaw & SuryaKumar Yadav’s early travel to London after Covid-19 hits India tour of Sri Lanka

On Monday, the BCCI had officially confirmed that Prithvi Shaw and SuryaKumar Yadav will join Virat Kohli & Co in England for the five-match Test series. While Shubman Gill has returned to India due to a shin injury, Washington Sundar and Avesh Khan will return home shortly after suffering injuries during practice match in Durham.

India will be hopeful that the report comes out negative as it could spoil their plans of backups. Notably, SuryaKumar Yadav is seen as a backup for Ajinkya Rahane. The latter is recovering from hamstring problem. Meanwhile, Prithvi Shaw will be a backup opener as Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal/ KL Rahul are likely to open for team India. The five-match Test series will kick start from August 4.

Meanwhile, the second T20I between Sri Lanka and India originally scheduled to be played on July 27 has been pushed forward by a day and will now take place on Wednesday, July 28.
