And, a couple of centuries on taking on the elite list with Rahul Dravid, Alastair Cook, and Sachin Tendulkar to smash 7 centuries against England.

Cheteshwar Pujara

India’s batting mainstay Cheteshwar Pujara can also complete 7,000 runs in Test cricket. He has slammed 6267 runs in 86 matches (144 inns) at an average of 46.08. He has hit 18 tons and 29 fifties. He needs 528 runs to complete 2000 runs against England. Besides Kohli, Pujara also needs a couple of hundreds to join Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and Alastair Cook on the elite list.

India vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane is also not too far behind 5,000 Test runs. He has scored 4647 runs in 74 Tests at an average of 41.72 which includes 12 centuries and 23 fifties.

He can also overtake Murali Vijay (12), G Vishwanath (14) in terms of Test centuries.

R Ashwin

IND vs ENG: India allrounder R Ashwin is on the verge of completing 3000 runs in Test cricket. In doing so, he can overtake Syed Kirmani (2759) and MAK Pataudi (2793). The 34-year-old has scored 2685 runs in 79 Tests with the help of 5 centuries. He needs 30 more runs to complete 1000 runs in Tests against England.

The lead India spinner is just a few wickets away to go past Harbhajan Singh (417) and Kapil Dev (434). He has taken 413 scalps in 79 Test matches. The right-arm spinner needs 12 wickets to complete 100 scalps against England.

India pacer Mohammad Shami needs 16 wickets to complete 200 wickets in Test cricket. He has taken 184 wickets in 51 matches. The pace spearhead is expected to play a key role for India in the upcoming contest.

The England pace spearhead needs a couple of wickets to go past India legend Anil Kumble (619). He has taken 617 wickets in 162 matches (most among pacers). He is only behind Muttiah Muralitharan, Shane Warne, and Kumble on the elite list.
