India T20 WC Squad: Big UPDATE, India squad for T20 World Cup in Australia will be selected on September 15th: Follow LIVE UPDATES

ICC T20 World Cup: The qualifying group stage of the tournament, to be hosted by Australia, gets underway on October 16. The tournament proper or the Super 12 starts on October 22.

Each team will be allowed to include 15 players in their squad. However, each participating team in the tournament may travel with a contingent of up to 30 members.

A total of 23 members will be part of the official squad comprising 15 players and eight support staff. Besides, seven additional squad members, at the participating country’s expense, will be allowed to travel with the contingent.

These seven additional members can be a mixture of players, including net bowlers, and support staff. Keeping the Covid-19 pandemic in mind, the ICC has also made it mandatory for each squad to travel with a doctor as part of the contingent.

How the replacements can be made in the squad? The replacements in the original squad of 15 can only be made citing medical reasons. Teams asking for the replacement will require from a committee formed by the ICC during the tournament.

Only players who are part of the 15-member squad will be eligible to play in the World Cup.

Captain Rohit Sharma – ’80-90% of the team already done’: Meanwhile Rohit Sharma is confident that 80-90% team has already selected themselves.

The selectors and the Indian captain will eagerly wait for the FITNESS STATUS of Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel. The pace duo are missing the Asia Cup due to injury.

“There is still about two-and-a-half months left for the T20 World Cup. Before that, we have the Asia Cup and two home series against Australia and South Africa.

So, more or less 80-90 per cent of your team is set, of course there could be three-four changes if at all depending on the conditions,” Rohit Sharma declared recently.

The only changes will be due to the change in conditions in Australia. India will have to go pace-heavy due to the bouncy pitches. That could see the return of Mohammed Shami who was discarded from T20s following T20 World Cup 2021.

As of now, we have been playing in India and will play in UAE, so the conditions in Australia will be different. We need to check what suits our team in Australia,” Rohit Sharma said.
