India Playing XI vs ZIM: India vs Zimbabwe LIVE: Rohit Sharma & Co have sealed their spot in the semis. Now, they take on Zimbabwe on Sunday at the MCG with one change in the playing XI. Rishabh Pant have replaced Dinesh Karthik in the playing XI for the final Super 12 Group 2 match. The veteran’s not-so-impressive form has propelled this decision of team management to drop Karthik for Pant for the Zimbabwe clash. Dinesh Karthik with scores of 1, 6 and 7 hasn’t lived up to the expectations set. Although he has faced just 22 balls, he is in Australia to hit quick runs. The stage was set for him against Bangladesh but a miscommunication with Virat Kohli dismissed him. As things stand, apart from team management’s backing, DK does not have a lot to show for it.
India (Playing XI): KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma(c), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant(w), Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh

On the other hand, Rishabh Pant has been practising hard to make a comeback. Even against Bangladesh, he was tipped to replace Karthik as the veteran suffered a back injury. However, Team India preferred to go with Karthik over Pant as he recovered just in time.
However, as India have all but secured Zimbabwe to secure the semifinal berth, Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma could be tempted to test Pant before the big semifinal clash.
India Playing XI vs ZIM: Will Rishabh Pant come in for Dinesh Karthik?
- Dinesh Karthik’s returns have dwindled over the last two months.
- After an average campaign in Asia Cup, Karthik had a couple of a good knocks against South Africa.
- However, in Australia, he has endured a poor run.
- He has returns of 1, 6 and 7 against Pakistan, SouthAfrica and Bangladesh.
- Rishabh Pant on the other hand has also endured a poor run.
- In 2022, Pant has scored 338 runs in 17 innings at a strike rate of 136.84.
- However, as Karthik formula isn’t working, Zimbabwe could be the opponent to test Pant.
- As for other positions, Axar Patel is expected to keep his place.
- However, Yuzvendra Chahal could be given a chance considering India have one foot in the semifinals.
- However, Ashwin has been effective barring the SouthAfrica game. Hence, Dravid may not be wanting to tinker with the combination too much.
- In the bowling department, India have been rock solid.
- Arshdeep Singh has kept Harshal Patel out of the Playing XI while Mohammad Shami has performed admirably.
In the batting department, KL Rahul hit form with a brilliant half-century against Bangladesh. Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav have both hit top gear. While Hardik Pandya has faltered at times but he is invaluable to India.
However, Rohit Sharma too has had a lukewarm run so far. While he scored a half-century against Netherlands, he has failed against most Test-playing nations. His hot and cold form could be a worry ahead of the semifinals.
