IND vs WI LIVE 2nd ODI – Sanju Samson for Ishan Kishan? Though teams do not make much changes in the playing XI, the performance of Sanju Samson and Prasidh Krishna was not satisfactory.

Samson, who donned the gloves for India in the first ODI, was picked ahead of Ishan Kishan and he failed to impress, scoring 12 only .

That was purely a combination move, but it did not work. And the team management will be looking to have Ishan at the top, at number three. With Shubman Gill having done well as an opener, Ishan can only bat one down.

With Shikhar Dhawan and Gill at the top, Kishan, who is habituated to bat at the top, can play as per the situation. Even if India loses an early wicket, he can pile pressure on the WestIndies bowlers with his boundary hitting ability.

That also means, Shreyas Iyer and Suryakumar can be handled the responsibility of batting in the middle order. It is a position, they excel at. With both the players’ possessing the ability to hit boundaries and find gaps at will, it is an ideal case for them to take strike in the middle overs, which can be tricky.

With no Ravindra Jadeja, Deepak Hooda can shoulder the batting in the death overs while the likes of Shardul Thakur and Axar Patel can also make good contribution when they get a chance to bat.

Will India give Arshdeep Singh a chance? In the pace department, Prasidh Krishna did not fare well in the first game, which will prompt the management to look at Arshdeep Singh. They can also ask Mohammed Siraj to sit out. The benefit of playing Arshdeep is that he can bowl with the new ball, and is a solid asset at the death overs.

More importantly, he adds an element of variety with him being a left-arm pacer and has the ability to trouble batters with his varieties.

Probable India Playing XI: Shikhar Dhawan (c), Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan (wk), Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav,  Deepak Hooda, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna/Arshdeep Singh.
