India (Playing XI): Rohit Sharma(c), KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik(w), Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh
- With four left-handed batters in South Africa’s top seven, it is highly unlikely that India will play Axar Patel against South Africa.
- Axar Patel has bowled well against the Netherlands but the Indian team management will most likely give batting all-rounder Deepak Hooda a game.
- Hooda is a proper batter and can chip in with a couple of overs with his off-spin. Hooda is more than a useful bowler.

India Playing XI vs SouthAfrica: Having sealed back-to-back wins, India have no room for change as they prepare for the clash against SouthAfrica on Sunday.
The Men in Blue did well in their final clash against the Netherlands clinching a 56-run win at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The match brought in a host of positives, with Rohit Sharma, Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin all putting up excellent performances.
But despite good performances from AXAR Patel – he may get replaced with Hooda. Axar’s own match ups against the Proteas lefthanders isn’t great as he goes for nearly 9 runs per over against the Proteas.
“I am not thinking too much about SA game. Will go there and then take a call and what needs to be done. It will be team management who will decide, who to play?”, Axar Patel was quoted on Thursday.
The final call will be taken before the match.
IND vs SA LIVE: What could India’s playing XI vs South Africa look like?
- India have begun their tournament well, with back-to-back wins over Pakistan and Netherlands.
- The Men in Blue could potentially seal a semi-final spot with a win over SouthAfrica on Sunday.
- That said India are unlikely to tinker with their playing combination for the match at Perth.
- Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav got runs under their belt while Axar Patel and Bhuvneshwar Kumar did admirably well with the ball.
- KL Rahul’s struggles have continued but the Indian vice-captain has now sought the help of mental conditioning coach Paddy Upton.
- Ashwin should also keep Yuvzendra Chahal out with SA having three left-handers – Quinton de Kock, Rilee Rossouw and David Miller in their top 6.
The biggest positive is Virat Kohli’s return to form, having slammed back-to-back half-centuries in the tournament so far. Suryakumar Yadav also smashed a quick-fire fifty as India put the memories of their Pakistan collapse behind them. However, the Indian order will be up against a stern test, with the likes of Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada and potentially Marco Jansen enjoying the bounce on offer at Perth.
India are unlikely to make any changes despite vice-captain KL Rahul struggling for form. Rahul has managed 4 and 9 in the two games at the World Cup and will have to do a lot better to get up from his slump. The Indian opener did manage some runs in the warm-up but hasn’t managed to replicate the same in the main matches.

As per information with Insidesport, KL Rahul will spend some time with Paddy Upton for the next two days. Rahul Dravid & Rohit Sharma feel since his comeback, no technical block but he is facing a mental block. Over the next two days, two 1 hour sessions are planned for KL RAHUL with Paddy UPTON.
Ravichandran Ashwin should also retain his place with his inclusion adding batting flexibility to the line up. Furthermore, the veteran off-spinner has a favourable record against left-handers, with SouthAfrica having the likes of Quinton de Kock, Rilee Rossouw and David Miller in their ranks.
