Mohammed Siraj was rested in the first ODI match and it was his counterpart Mohammed Shami who stole the show. The veteran pacer rattled the Aussie batters by scalping a fifer thereby playing a vital role in India’s victory. But Siraj continues to be rested.

Shardul Thakur keeps place
Having proven his mettle and with plenty of game time, Mohammed Siraj has got a rest again. Shardul Thakur keeps his place as an all-rounder. Siraj demolished Sri Lanka with a magical spell of 6/21 in the Asia Cup final.
Shardul Thakur hasn’t got his chance with the bat but his bowling hasn’t simply been good enough. He leaked runs in a flurry in the previous game where he ended up giving 78 runs in 10 overs.
The World Cup is barely weeks away and the time has come for the Indian side to do away with their permutations and combinations. But as the Australia series is all about game time, Team India have given Siraj a break with Shami, Shardul and Prasidh getting a go.

India’s Tactics vs Australia
- Shubman Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad will open proceedings for the Men in Blue. The duo got their respective half-centuries in the previous game which is a good sign for both batters ahead of their respective tournaments.
- Gill played his first game with National colours at his home stadium and smashed a fifty. On the other hand, Ruturaj Gaikwad who will lead the Indian team in the Asian Games got some much-needed runs.
- Shreyas Iyer had an unfortunate outing in the 1st ODI, but it is high time for the middle-order batter to get some crucial runs under his belt.
- Ishan Kishan too was unfortunate not to get big runs but he is now a vital cog in the Indian setup.
- KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav were the match winners. The duo stitched a wonderful partnership to help India chase down 277 runs. The duo registered individual fifties and thereby strengthened India’s lower-order set-up.
- Ravindra Jadeja and Ravi Ashwin are the two veteran spinners for India and can pack punches at the opposition with the bat.
- And finally comes the 3 Indian pacers, with Jasprit Bumrah rested, Mohammed Shami will partner Prasidh Krishna.
