India team skipper Rohit Sharma said, “Whenever we play Australia, it’s always challenging, whichever conditions we play in. They bring in a different kind of challenge. We need to keep building the momentum, do the right things for longer periods of time. If we keep doing that consistently, you will get the tresults. Good for us to get that confidence in the last game.”

“It’s a crunch game, hope everyone steps up. Rishabh misses out, Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar Kumar) is back. Last game was a shortened game, we only needed 4 bowlers, so Bhuvi missed out. But good to have him back.”

Harshal Patel has been out of touch completely and team management need to take a BIG CALL on him. Will Harshal be dropped or will he be given another chance to get his rhytm back?

It would remain a mystery why Deepak Chahar has been ignored so far in T20s despite a brilliant comeback in Zimbabwe. But he could be given a go in Hyderabad.

Harshal Patel to be dropped? – Harshal Patel was once again too expensive in 2nd T20. In his two overs, he gave away 32 runs in his 2 overs. In the series so far, he has an economy rate of 13.50 in 6 overs without any success. While India could afford to go with just 4 bowlers due to the short nature of the match in Nagpur, it won’t be the case in Hyderabad. India will have to go with six bowling options with three seamers.

Jasprit Bumrah will continue after a lukewarm return following a two-month back injury layoff. But with no Arshdeep Singh, India will have to take call on the remaining pace attack. India have four options at disposal: Deepak Chahal, Harshal Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Umesh Yadav. Only two will play and it’s likely that both Deepak Chahar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will get the nod.

Ravichandran Ashwin for Yuzvendra Chahal? – Another piece of puzzle is the 2nd spinner. Axar Patel is set to keep his place after brilliant run in the series with the ball. But it’s Yuzvendra Chahal, who has been poor. In 4.2 overs this series, he has conceded 54 runs at 12.46 economy rate. As the team management wants Ashwin to play a part, he could be given a go in the last match.

Ashwin hasn’t impressed with his ultra-attacking bowling like he does it Tests but he has tried to keep things under control by bowling defensively. India may need someone like him against a charging Matthew Wade or Cameron Green.

Dinesh Karthik or Rishabh Pant? – The new part of the problem is to decide between Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant. If Pant has a good track record against Australia, Karthik has done enough to have the role of a finisher. Karthik finished the 2nd T20 in just two balls, hammering a 6 and a 4. Pant did not get to bat.

But it will raise the same issue — whether India need a left-hander at No 5 or a finisher at No 7. The last T20I in Hyderabad was a high-scoring affair with over 400 runs scored in 40 overs. But there hasn’t been any match since and the amount of rain in South India, the pitch could have some moisture.

If the wicket is two-paced, it will be difficult for someone like Karthik to hit from the first ball. But Pant will have enough time to take India to a respectable score. It is expected to come down to the combinations.

India Playing XI 3rd T20 vs Australia: What to expect from 3rd T20 in Hyderabad?

  • India have levelled the series after win in a rain-truncated 8-over match in Nagpur.
  • Rohit Sharma was the star with his bat while Axar Patel continued to come good in Ravindra Jadeja’s absence.
  • But some things were constant. Harshal Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal both struggled in the match.
  • While Bhuvneshwar Kumar was rested, his understanding of the Hyderabad pitch is crucial.
  • Bhuvneshwar Kumar is expected to return for 3rd T20.
  • Deepak Chahar hasn’t played any part in the series yet. While he was lukewarm in the only Asia Cup match, India will want to keep him ready.
  • Ravichandran Ashwin is also expected to return in place of Yuzvendra Chahal, who has a sudden dip in form.
  • The top 4 will remain the same and a last-minute call will be taken on Dinesh Karthik or Rishabh Pant.
  • Jasprit Bumrah will continue after his return to the side in the Nagpur T20 following two-month injury layoff.
