India will be wary of workload management when they name their playing XI for the 3rd T20I against West Indies. Coach Rahul Dravid is expected to make a host of changes given the 16-hour gap between the two games.

Rohit Sharma is expected to lead with the series now level 1-1 after the hosts clinched a win on Monday night. However, India could go with Ishan Kishan at the top instead of Suryakumar Yadav for the game. Yadav has featured in all five games in the series and Kishan having warmed the bench provides a breath of fresh air. Sanju Samson is also another contender for the opener’s spot, having scored a career-best 77 against Ireland in his last T20I.

Samson batted in the middle order during the ODI series meaning he could chip in for either Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant or Hardik Pandya. Iyer has struggled in the shortest format of the game and Deepak Hooda is likely to replace him in the line. Axar Patel offers a like-to-like replacement for Ravindra Jadeja and following his heroics in the ODI series, he will be keen to make a mark.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar only bowled a couple of overs in the 2nd T20I and unless there is an injury, the veteran is expected to feature in the game. Avesh Khan and Arshdeep Singh will also retain their places with Harshal Patel ruled out due to a rib injury.

Ravi Bishnoi was dropped for the game in favour of Avesh, but the young leggie could return in place of the veteran Ravichandran Ashwin. Bishnoi was impressive in the first game but will face competition from the returning Kuldeep Yadav. The chinaman bowler is yet to play a game since the IPL and the West Indies series could be the perfect opportunity for him to shine. Kuldeep’s experience should also put him in good stead above Bishnoi in Ashwin’s absence.
