Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi confirmed India’s bid for hosting 2036 Olympics. The announcement came during the inauguration of the 141st International Olympic Committe Session in Mumbai on Saturday, 14th October.

“India will leave no stone unturned in our efforts to organise the 2036 Olympics. It’s is a dream of 140 crore Indians. With the support of IOC, we would want to fulfil this dream,” said the Prime Minister during his address at the inauguration of the IOC session.
The IOC session is being held in the country after a gap of 40 years. The last Olympic Session was held in India in 1983 in New Delhi.
India willing to host 2029 Youth Olympics
The Prime Minister further added that India is also willing to host the Youth Olympics in 2029. “We are willing to host the 2029 Youth Olympics. I am sure India will get constant support from IOC,” he said.
IOC President Thomas Bach in his speech said, “India is an inspiring place. The country combined a splendid history and a dynamic present with a vigorous confidence in the future.”
“Another illustration of the growing Olympic spirit in the country is the outstanding performance of the athletes at the Asian Games. Congratulations for the record breaking medal haul. This is something that the entire Olympic community in India can be proud of,” he added.
