“Rohit Sharma is under the care of the BCCI Medical Team following his left thumb injury. He sustained the injury during the 2nd ODI against Bangladesh in Dhaka. The Medical Team is of the opinion that the injury needs some more time to heal completely before the Indian captain can bat and field with full intensity. He will continue his rehab and will not be available for the second and final Test against Bangladesh,” the BCCI said in a statement.
“Navdeep Saini is also ruled out of the second Test owing to an abdominal muscle strain. The fast bowler will now report to the NCA for further management of his injury,” it added.

Rohit Sharma Injury: Rohit was en route to recovery from the thumb injury. While he received initial clearance, it emerged that his thumb has not fully healed. He dislocated his thumb while taking a catch in the 2nd ODI against Bangladesh. He also has stitches.
Currently, Rohit Sharma has stiffness in the thumb. With the all-important Australia series coming up, physios don’t want to rush his return. India have already paid for rushing Jasprit Bumrah’s return ahead of T20 World Cup.
After learning of Rohit Sharma’s injury status, Rahul Dravid-led team management said no to his inclusion in the 2nd Test. While Rohit can bat even at this point, the physios feel that fielding would aggravate his injury further.
If he hurts his thumb again, the Indian captain may miss the two upcoming series against SriLanka and NewZealand. He could also be doubtful for the Australia series.
With Rohit not travelling to Dhaka, vice-captain KL Rahul will continue to lead the team in his absence. India lead the two-match series 1-0.
