Anirban Lahiri needs a miracle to finish in the podium places as the Indian veteran slipped to 28th at the end of Round 3. The Indian golfer returned early on Saturday to complete round 2, and slipped to T-24, before finishing the day at T-28 with a score of 6-under 207. Udayan Mane meanwhile carried himself off the last place and ended at a shared 5th, with 2-over 215, having carded a 70 in round 3.
Equestrian @ 4:15 AM- Individual eventing- Cross Country (Fouaad Mirza)
Fouaad Mirza and his horse Seigneur Medicott finished the dressage stage of equestrian eventing at the Tokyo Olympics placed ninth on Saturday. Mirza amassed 28.00 penalty points in dressage on Friday, breaking into the top 10 at the sixth position before eventually ended the day tied seventh with Sweden’s Louise Romeike and her horse Cato 60 on points (28.00). The 29-year-old and Medicott have earlier won two silver medals in individual and team eventing at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta.
Boxing @ 9:36 AM- Satish Kumar vs Bakhodir Jalolov (Men’s super heavyweight- Quarterfinal)
Satish Kumar had already created history as he became the first Indian to compete in the super heavyweight category in the Olympics. Kumar got his Olympics debut off to a fine start, clinching a place in the quarters with a resounding win over Jamaica’s Ricardo Brown. He will now face off against Uzbekistan’s Bakhodir Jalolov, a multiple Asian and World Championships winner. He comes into the Olympics on the back of a gold medal in the 2021 Asian Championships and had won the gold in the 2019 World Championships. At 6’7, Jalolov has the height advantage and his reach will definitely be something that Kumar has to worry about.
