IND vs ZIM 1st ODI: Shubman Gill opener: Shubman Gill is one of the most inform batters in the Indian batting department currently. Such was his form that the team management also gave him the openers role for the contest. In fact, it did spring in a surprise when he walked into bat alongside Shikhar Dhawan at the top. He opened despite Rahul being present in the Indian playing XI. Rahul is one of the best Indian openers.

As Gill opened the innings, he looked in comfort. There was an element of confidence in his game. However, he did not get much balls to face early on. Even after the completion of seven overs, he just faced 10 balls.

But it is in the 14th over that the batter got going with three fours in the same over. Once he was in his zone, Gill looked in full control of his innings. He completed his half-century in the 25th over with back-to-back fours in 51 balls.

The batter changed gears from there and started to play aggressive cricket. He smashed his first six in the 26th over. The Indian batter soon overtook Shikhar Dhawan also as he remained not out on 82 runs while the southpaw was on 81.  It also means that the batter has remained unbeaten in his last two matches, including this one in Harare.
