Rain to play Spoilsport in 1st Test?
As per recent weather reports, rain is expected to play its part on day 1 itself. The weather for the next two days is expected to be good for play. However, the same cannot be said for Day 4 and 5 as heavy showers are predicted on July 15 and 16. The maximum temperature is set to fluctuate from of 30o C to 32o C.
Looking at the weather, both India and the home team will be hoping for the weather to stay clear for at least first three days as fans from both the countries can enjoy some quality red-ball cricket.
Speaking about the pitch condition at the Windsor Park, the strip helps the quicker bowlers on the first day and gets easier to bat on days 2 and 3. However, as the wicket gets used the spinners come into play on the final two days of a Test. With Rain in mind, both teams will look to have a bowl first and try to limit the opposition on a low score to gain a big lead in the first innings.
The average scores of the venue also suggest that the team batting second have scored the most runs. Plus the teams chasing in the final innings have mostly chased small targets. Both spinners and pacers have even share of wickets.
