On Monday, Rishabh Pant shared on his social media that the Indian wicket-keeper alongside captain Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik had arrived in Trinidad. The trio will take part in the five-match T20 series with the first two games in Trinidad. The action then moves to Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts. The final two games will be played in Lauderhill, Florida.
Ashwin returned after the 5th Test against England while Karthik, Bhuvneshwar and others returned home after the three-match T20 series against England. As they are not part of the ODI squad for Windies, they will directly link up with the T20 squad. Rohit Sharma and Rishabh will return from their vacation. However, Jasprit Bumrah has been rested from the entire tour.

Fate of KL Rahul hangs in balance: While Rahul was supposed to appear for a fitness test on Sunday but before he could, he tested positive for Covid-19. His mandatory 7-day quarantine period will only end on July 26 and post that, he will have to appear for a fitness test. Considering that he returns two negative Covid-19 tests, he will still be required to give a cardio-vascular test and only then be eligible to return.
In such circumstances, it’s fair to assume that, if not the entire tour, the Indian vice-captain will miss at least the first T20 slated for July 29. The second T20 is scheduled for August 1 and he could make it to the Caribbean if he passes all requisite tests. But he will only be able to join the squad on July 31 or August 1. That all but rules him out of the 2nd T20 as well.

IND vs WI T20 Series: Why is KL Rahul doubtful for entire T20 series?
- KL Rahul was supposed to appear for a fitness test on Sunday.
- He is recovering from a sports hernia surgery he had in June and is yet to be 100% match-fit.
- But the fitness test will now be delayed as he will have to remain in isolation for 7 days.
- He has to have two negative Covid-19 RT-PCR tests before exiting quarantine.
- That puts him on a tough timeline as the T20 series begins on July 29.
- Rahul can exit the quarantine on July 27 if he returns two negative tests.
- He will also have to undergo a mandatory cardio-vascular test. It is mandated for every Covid recovered player by BCCI.
- If he clears that, he will have to pass the mandatory Yo-yo test.
- If he gets everything right, he will still miss the first two matches.
India’s squad for 5 T20Is:
