IND vs WI: No charter flights for Indian players – For the first time during the COvid pandemic, Team India players won’t be getting a charter flight. All the players have been asked to assemble in Ahmedabad by Feb 1 on their own, in commercial flights for the ODI series. Follow India vs West Indies Live Updates on InsideSport.IN.
However, from Ahmedabad, all the players are expected to board a charter flight to Kolkata to avoid Covid-19 infections in both squads. West Indies will be arriving in Ahmedabad by February 2 after completing their England T20 series. Vice-captain KL Rahul will join the squad from the 2nd ODI after an extended break.

“We tried to arrange charter flights like the UK tour but it will not work out this time We are still trying. It could have avoided any interaction with other travellers. But it is too late at the moment,” a BCCI official told InsideSport on Thursday.
For the UK tour, BCCI arranged home Covid test for players and their families of both men’s and women’s teams. Apart from that, BCCI arranged charter flights from Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Delhi for players from different locations across India. All the players arrived in Mumbai for a 10-day quarantine ahead of England tour. But it is not happening this time. Instead, all the players will arrive on their own in Ahmedabad on commercial flights.

“All players and support staff including Rahul (Dravid) will reach Ahmedabad by Feb 1. They will be in room quarantine for three days and will have Covid tests. After that, they will have a short camp before the ODI series,” a BCCI official told InsideSport.
IND vs WI: Itinerary for India vs West Indies series:
- Players who are on a break after the South Africa tour will start assembling in Ahmedabad by Feb 1.
- Rohit Sharma and the support staff including the head coach Rahul Dravid will also arrive by Feb 1.
- All the Indian players and support staff will enter a three-day quarantine ahead of the series.
- West Indies players will arrive by Feb 2.
- From ODI series, both teams are expected to board a charter flight on February 12 to Kolkata for the T20I series.
- The Indian players who have only been picked for the T20I series will reach Kolkata in advance for a short camp and will go through the same three-day quarantine procedure.
Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Shami have been rested from the series.
KL Rahul will be available from 2nd ODI onwards.
R Jadeja is undergoing his final stage of recovery post his knee injury and will not be available for the ODIs and T20Is.

After a 3-0 whitewash in South Africa in the ODI series, Team India will aim to bounce back. The return of Rohit Sharma will be a big factor. Rohit missed out on the ODI series due to a hamstring injury but returned after completing recovery. However, Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin will miss out with injuries and Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah have been rested for both series.
Kuldeep Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi and Deepak Hooda are new additions. Kuldeep will be returning to cricket after six months while Bishnoi and Hooda have been given maiden ODI call-ups.
