IND vs WI LIVE: No opportunity in sight for Arshdeep Singh, left arm pacer benched once again by Rahul Dravid in inconsequential game – Check out
Arshdeep Singh has been part of the Indian set-up ever since the IPL but the left-arm seamer has only been handed a solitary game so far. The Punjab Kings did well in that solo outing, picking up 2/18 in his 3.3 overs to help India clinch a victory over England.
The 23-year-old has found himself waiting on the sidelines for far too long with Umran Malik and now Avesh Khan getting a game ahead of him. While it seamed that Arshdeep would play the final game after an extended net session, Dhawan brought back Prasidh Krishna into the side for the inconsequential game. In the 11 games Arshdeep Singh has been in the India squad, the Punjab star has only featured once in the Indian team.

Arshdeep Singh remains in contention for a place in the T20 World Cup squad given his ability to bowl well both in the powerplay and at the death. However, the opportunities have dried up for the 23-year-old to showcase his skills as he warms the bench. In the 10 international matches, he has been named in the squad since IPL 2022, Singh has featured in only one game.
While India already have their pace bowling options stocked for the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup, Arshdeep offers a variety that the Bowling attack seriously lacks. Among India’s options in the West Indies series and among seamers rested, only Singh is a left-arm pacer. The 23-year-old is also very well versed with bowling the yorker, a handy weapon in the final few overs of the innings.
