Shubman Gill marked his return to the Indian team in style as the young opener slammed his first half-century in ODI cricket. Being called up to the team for the first time in two years, the Punjab opener left nothing to chance to take the attack to the West Indies bowling attack.
Gill laced his innings with a series of boundaries in the powerplay, almost batting at a strike rate of 150. He eventually reached his milestone in just 36 balls, scoring six fours and two sixes. Gill’s pyrotechnics allowed Dhawan to settle into the game. The duo put on a century stand, in just their first match opening together for India.
