Rohit Sharma’s SPECIAL CLASS – What was Rohit’s message to Ishan? Rohit Sharma, who is also Kishan’s captain in the IPL, took him aside for a chat and gave him reassurance after a tough day in the office.
Rohit especially told him that he needs to ‘ROTATE STRIKE & can’t get bogged down on slow wickets’. The chat was very animated with Rohit 1st looking little upset & then reassuring the youngster ‘he needs to ease down on the pressure’.
When quizzed about the same in the post match presentation, Rohit Sharma said, ” I have been talking to him (Ishan) for a long time now, when he was playing with Mumbai Indians in the middle order which wasn’t his natural position. We saw in Chennai when the pitch was slow he wasn’t able to get going”
The Indian captain added, “It’s just about rotating strike in the middle and with Ishan it’s just about getting some game time and wearing the blue and playing for India, there’s too much pressure. It’s our job to make sure that whenever he steps in he’s quite comfortable.”

What happened during Ishan Kishan’s innings? Kishan had a day to forget on Wednesday. As his captain was making merry at the other end, he toiled against the West Indian bowlers on a slow surface at the Eden Gardens.
Kishan struggled to rotate strike. Especially after the powerplay, both Akeal Hosein and Roston Chase kept him quiet.
The 23-year-old was eventually dismissed for a 42-ball 35, finding Fabian Allen in the deep in search of a rescue shot.
The patch innings by Ishan led Rohit Sharma to get in a animated session with him after the match. India’s bowling coach Paras Mhambery was also present during the chat.
Kishan’s struggles against spin on slow surfaces are well documented, and Rohit was seen shadow batting, passing on some advice to his batting partner to work on.
