IND vs WI LIVE: Ravichandran Ashwin sizzles on T20I return, adds to Rahul Dravid’s selection HEADACHE with stunning spell in 1st T20I win – Check Highlights
Ravichandran Ashwin gave a reminder of his talents on Friday with a match-changing spell at Port of Spain. Making his first T20I appearance in over nine months, Ashwin returned with figures of 2/22 in his four overs. He bowled 13 dots and applied pressure on the West Indian batters, also helping himself to a couple of wickets.
The 35-year-old has a favourable record against left-arm batsmen and Ashwin dismissed their two biggest players. Ashwin first tricked captain Nicholas Pooran with a peach of a delivery, before dismissing Shimron Hetmyer.

IND vs WI LIVE: Ravichandran Ashwin sizzles on T20I return, adds to Rahul Dravid’s selection HEADACHE with stunning spell in 1st T20I win – Check Highlights
Ashwin had made a surprise return to the T20 world Cup squad last year and justified his selection with a good outing in the three games he featured. He followed it up with match-winning performances in the home series against New Zealand. Since then however a combination of injuries, rest and combinations meant that the 35-year-old had not featured in any of the 16 T20Is India have played in 2022.
His return to the team and that too with a bang only adds to Rahul Dravid’s conundrum when he prepares to name his T20 World Cup squad. While Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravindra Jadeja have almost confirmed their places in the side, the likes of Kuldeep Yadav, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar and Ravi Bishnoi are all fighting for a solitary spot.
