Jason Holder put in the rescue act for West Indies on Sunday with a fine half-century on Sunday at Ahmedabad. Holder walked into bat after the visitors were reduced to 71/5 and scored a fine fifty putting on a 78-run partnership for the eighth wicket with Fabian Allen. Holder’s half-century helped West Indies over 150 before they were eventually bowled out for 176.
Holder’s half-century showcased his ability to counter spin well, as he used his big reach to play Yuzvendra Chahal and Washington Sundar effectively. The former West Indian captain also showcased his ability to tonk the ball over the fence, hitting four sixes in his innings.
Jason Holder’s innings comes at the right time for him personally, with the all-rounder amongst the 33 West Indian players listed in the auction. Holder was with the Sunrisers Hyderabad over the past couple of seasons, chipping in with valuable contributions in the limited chances he got with the franchise.
