Having struggled to make his mark in the earlier games, Avesh Khan gave West Indies a reminder of his talents with a stunning spell of bowling on Saturday. Avesh Khan was entrusted the new ball by captain Rohit Sharma and the Indore born delivered in style dismissing the in-form Brandon Kings first up.

Avesh then followed it up with another peach of a delivery to dismiss Devon Thomas as West Indies were left reeling at 22/2 in their chase of 192. He eventually finished up with figures of 2/17 in his four overs, putting the brakes on the West Indian innings and delivering a comfortable win for India.

Not only did Avesh pick up early wickets, but he also kept the runs in check by bowling some tight lines and lengths during the game. The 25-year-old delivered 14 dot balls, choking the West Indian batsmen with his superb bowling. It was a great arc by the LSG pacer considering that he had been subjected to some harsh hitting by West Indies in the previous games. He had conceded 47 in his 3 overs in the last game, while had failed to defend 10 in the final over in a low scoring encounter in the 2nd T20I.

On Saturday, he won the player of the match for his efforts. Speaking after the game, Avesh said, “I feel really good because I didn’t do well in the last two games. I just focussed on my strengths today, bowling the hard lengths. My coaches and my captain told me that they were backing me.”

He added, “They told me to bounce back and backed me a lot. I am focussing on the next match that is left now. The ball was stopping a bit in the wicket and so I was just mixing my slower deliveries with the hard lengths, which gave me the results. This ground feels like India only, it feels like home. Happy that the crowd came to see us.”
