IND vs SL: Suryakumar Yadav calls Prithvi Shaw ‘show-stopper’ after impressive run in Sri Lanka – India Tour of Sri Lanka in many ways was the designated platform for Prithvi Shaw to perform and make a comeback to the core team. After being dropped from the core team following a poor run in Australia, the youngster has made remarkable progress and has shown his brute force in the Sri Lanka series despite not getting a big score. His Mumbai and India teammate Suryakumar Yadav called him a show-stopper who is set for big things to come.
“I only have one word for him, he is a show-stopper. Whenever I see him bat or whenever I meet him, I call him a show stopper. A show stopper is a man whom you love seeing and who is the main man whom you always have an eye on. So, whenever he bats, he is the man to watch for. I would love to see him remain the same,” Suryakumar Yadav said at the post-match press conference on Friday.
IND vs SL: In the 1st ODI against Sri Lanka, Prithvi Shaw showed his brutal force. His hammer and tongs approach against Sri Lankan bowlers led him to 43 off just 27 balls. While he looked set to score a big knock, his concentration broke after getting hit in the helmet off a bouncer. But at no point in the innings did he look shaky.
One bounce over the slip to the boundary? 😳

IND vs SL: While he did not do well in the 2nd ODI, scoring only 13 runs, he again went off to a good start. The same pattern followed in the 3rd ODI on Friday. His quickfire approach gave India a good start but he played cautiously after Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed early. He was set for his maiden ODI 50 but fell one run short after he was trapped leg-before by Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka. But with the T20 series coming up from July 25, he is ready for more destructive batting.
“He is batting brilliantly and has worked very hard on his fitness. It is really good to see him do well and I’m excited about it. I am really looking forward to see him in the T20 series,” Suryakumar Yadav said.
IND vs SL: Furthermore, his return to form has also kept India captain Virat Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri on their toes as they have already requested for Prithvi Shaw to be sent to England for the five-match Test series against England. Another impressive show with the bat in the T20 series may very well get his place back in the Test side with Shubman Gill out injured.
