Sharma was seen using a mix of weights and machines for his workout. He did both individual and complex exercises for his workout routine and capped it off with some endurance training. To note, Rohit played his last international game against Bangladesh in December 2022. Leading India in the first ODI encounter, Rohit suffered a thumb injury. As a result, he was ruled out of the entire tour including the Test series.
The Indian skipper did not have much of a great time in 2022. Overall, in 40 innings last year, Rohit scored 995 runs, failing to cross the 1000-run mark. These runs came at an average of 27.63, with six fifties. For the first time since 2012, he did not score an international century for an entire year.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has asked Rohit Sharma-led team to assemble in Guwahati by January 8 ahead of the ODI series. Hardik Pandya & Co will join the rest of the team members from Rajkot following the completion of the ongoing T20 series.
Apart from Rohit, several other senior players including Virat Kohli, Mohammad Shami and express pacer Jasprit Bumrah are also set to join the Indian contingent for the ODI series. The first match of the fixture will be played at the ACA Stadium, Barsapara on January 10. Last time a ODI was held at the same venue in 2018 where Kohli-led India won against West Indies by 8 wickets. India chased 323 successfully with centuries from both Rohit and Kohli.
