India’s ace spinner R Ashwin recently surpassed veteran Harbhajan Singh to become the third leading wicket-taker for India in Test cricket. Ashwin will be further eying to surpass a couple more legendary bowlers in the three-match Test series against Proteas.

  • With 427 wickets, R Ashwin is four wickets shy of equalling New Zealand’s legendary Sir Richard Hadlee’s record of 431 wickets

India’s Test skipper Virat Kohli is also on verge of achieving a milestone. While Kohli’s 71st international century is much awaited, the Indian skipper is 199 runs away from completing 8000 runs in Test cricket.

  • Kohli has scored 7801 runs in 97 Test matches at an average of 50.65
  • Against South Africa, Kohli has scored 1075 in 12 matches at an average of 59.72, including 3 hundred
  • In South Africa, he has scored 558 runs in 5 matches at an average of 55.80, including 2 hundred
