In a statement, BCCI said Virat Kohli had suffered an upper back spasm that could occur due to excessive exercise. Back spasm is the tightness and pain in the muscle that generally goes away with rest. But with Virat Kohli’s history, it raised more questions than answers.
“Virat Kohli had a spasm on his upper back this morning. He won’t feature in the second Test against South Africa at The Wanderers. The BCCI medical team will be monitoring him during the course of this Test match,” declared the BCCI.
However, with him returning to batting, it is a good sign for India who will be banking on him in the 3rd Test.
