The 25-year-old batter managed just a solitary fifty throughout the series. Apart from 2 decent performances, Gaikwad has been extremely poor. In the first T20I, he scored a quick 23 off 15. The 3rd T20I was the best performance from him where he managed 57 off 35 deliveries.

The best of his performances were just single-digit scores. 1 off 4 in the 2nd T20I, 5 off 7 in the 4th and 10 off 12 in the final T20I shows a lack of form and consistency in the batter. Gaikwad had a mere average of just 19.20 in this series.

Ruturaj Gaikwad got a full series. Can’t complain if he gets dropped when Rohit & KL return.

Ishan Kishan ticks more boxes – can open, can bat in the middle order, can be the backup wicket-keeper, is a left hander. Most importantly he has at least started to score consistently.

Ruturaj Gaikwad has been in poor form in the 5-match T20I series against South Africa.
He scored a total of 96 runs from 5 games with an average of 19.20 and a strike rate of 131.50
Gaikwad has failed to impress the selectors in this series. He managed just a solitary fifty throughout the series. He scored 57 from 35 balls in the 3rd T20I
Two of his innings consisted of scores in single digits.
Ruturaj Gaikwad will get a chance to impress the selectors in the upcoming 2 T20I matches against Ireland. Chetan Sharma will travel to Ireland to view the team’s performance ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup.

India’s Chairman of the selection committee, Chetan Sharma will be present in Ireland to check the progress of the Indian squad. Sharma is scheduled to travel to Dublin on 22nd June and keep an eye on the performances of the India squad.
