IND vs SA LIVE: On the eve of INDIA vs South Africa 1st test, players watch ’83 Movie’, KL Rahul & Virat Kohli completely blown away – Team India stars were completely floored by the brilliance of Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Co. after they watched the 83 movie which hit the cinemas this weekend. Directed by Kabir Khan, the film stars Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev, and covers the story of India’s 1983 World Cup triumph against the mighty West Indies. Team India captain Virat Kohli, vice-captain KL Rahul were among the many impressed after they watched the 83 movie which hit the movie theatres on Friday. The film which conveys the story of India’s 1983 World Cup win won hearts and immense praise and the same followed from the cricketing community, who were touched by the display. Ahead of the India vs South Africa 1st Test, BCCI had arranged a special screening of the film in South Africa and the movie hit the right chord among the players.

After watching the film, Virat Kohli took to Twitter to laud the performances of Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev and the rest of the cast and added that he couldn’t have relived the moment in a better way. Kohli tweeted, “Couldn’t have relived the most iconic moment of Indian cricket history in a better manner. A fantastically made movie which immerses you in the events and the emotion of the world cup in 1983. Splendid performances as well. @RanveerOfficial was a different level altogether. Great job everyone! @therealkapildev

Virat Kohli’s wife and Bollywood star Anushka Sharma also lavished praise on the film, congratulating the entire team for bringing India’s sporting history to life. She added that Ranveer Singh’s potrayal of Kapil Dev was just superlative, and also heaped praise of Kabir Khan and Deepika Padukone.

KL Rahul, who will be the vice-captain on India’s tour of South Africa, said that he was simply blown away by the film. He added that the 83 movie was a befitting tribute to the Indian cricket heroes and added that Ranveer’s performance was “magical”. Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya also lauded the film and tweeted the same.
