IND vs SA Live: Five things to watch out for during India vs South T20 series as KL Rahul-led team eyes World Record

IND vs SA Live: India will be without a few of their star players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah. The pace attack will see the inclusion of a few stars like Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik.

Here at InsideSport, we look at 5 things to watch out for between IND vs SA T20 series

Insidesport

  1. Focus on KL Rahul’s leadership and strike are in T20s

KL Rahul’s leadership will be under the scanner after a disastrous start to his captaincy career which has seen him lose 3 ODIs and 1 Test match in South Africa. The management has backed him one more time, but they have issued a stern warning this time. His leadership skills will be scrutinized as India look to groom the next leader after Rohit. Rahul’s strike rate will also be monitored. There is no question regarding his immense potential and run-scoring ability.

In the T20 format, he gets runs at a below-par strike rate. During the IPL 2022 he scored over 600 runs, but at times faced scrutiny due to his slow strike rate.

  1. Spotlight on India’s pace attack

Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan, and Umran Malik – are 3 pacers and possibly future stars. While Avesh made his debut, Arshdeep and Malik are the latest additions. The trio impressed during the IPL 2022. PBKS pacer Arshdeep was spot on in the death overs with an economy rate of 7 runs per over. He managed to keep the likes of MS Dhoni, Dinesh Karthik, and Hardik Pandya quiet with superb accuracy. SRH pacer Malik set the speedometer on fire by consistently clocking 150kmph. He picked up 22 wickets and troubled the batters with his searing pace.

Avesh Khan was superb for LSG in the power play and death overs. He picked 18 wickets in 13 games. The trio will look to perform well and make a massive statement.

Insidesport

  1. Return of Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik

Undoubtedly the stories of IPL 2022 – Dinesh Karthik and Hardik Pandya. The duo sizzled with bat and won matches for RCB and GT respectively. Karthik 2.0 was seen in the finisher role and he did not disappoint. In RCB’s run of seven victories in the league stage, the wicketkeeper-batter remained unbeaten and scored runs at a strike rate of 183.33. His assault in the death overs was a sight to behold.

Meanwhile, GT all-rounder, Hardik Pandya proved to be the biggest asset for his team. The 28-year-old scored 487 runs and picked 8 wickets. Pandya in some matches also bowled his full quota of four overs. The return of Hardik the all-rounder is a huge plus for India. Pandya will now look to make an impactful performance for India against South Africa.

Insidesport

  1. The KUL-CHA Factor

Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal have returned to the T20 format due to their phenomenal show in the IPL. While the RR leg spinner was part of the West Indies series, Kuldeep has made a comeback. Playing for DC this season, the chinaman picked up 21 wickets and got his mojo back. He used his variations smartly and was super effective in the middle overs.

KUL-CHA as they are fondly called yet again will be back together. Their record in the shortest format is good and with newfound vigor, the pair will look to prove a point or two.

Insidesport

  1. Focus on Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant was not seen in the best forms in the IPL 2022. Leading DC he came under heavy scrutiny for a few questionable calls. The management though has backed him to deliver and has also given him the role of the vice-captain of the Indian team. Pant’s Test record is second to none, but his T20 record for India is not that great. He has often been out in 30s and has thrown his wicket away. With responsibility on his shoulders, Pant will look to score runs consistently.
